The 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 Vs . The Toyota Prius: They Aren't Alike

The topic of shipping to australia from usa is highly relevant in associated markets as well as the parent market and for good reason. There are certain issues that do tend to spread out into other areas of consideration, and that cannot be ignored. You have to live your own experiences, and when you do you will learn lessons far and above what you will gain from anything you read.

Only you know what the specifics are that you are looking for, so if something speaks directly to you then choose that and perform additional research.

Basically, there are so many related points in the following discussion that we could not possibly cover, but we have selected a few of what we feel are the most relevant.

A new 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is actually a hybrid car that bears little resemblance to a Toyota Prius or other similar hybrids. When you initially think of hybrid, you think fuel performance, but the BMW hybrid is nowhere near as efficient as most hybrids. The 2011 ActiveHybrid 7 happens to be the most fuel-efficient of the 7-series model, but its power steering is turned off by the idle stop feature, and it doesn't work well in stop-and-go traffic. It's a technological powerhouse, and the hybrid platform adds power and fuel efficiency but also adds quirks to your driving everyday.

Almost all hybrids employ a smaller gas engine because the car is also being powered by the electric motor but this is not true for the BMW ActiveHybrid 7. Most hybrids minimize gasoline costs while maintaining power, but BMW saw the extra power, and decided to make their cars go faster. Like the standard BMW 750i, the 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 has a twin turbo direct-injection 4.4-liter V-8 engine. Unlike the BMW 750i, the ActiveHybrid 7 comes with a 120-volt lithium ion battery supply. The hybrid will give you improved fuel consumption than the regular 750i but provide even more horsepower.

The ActiveHybrid 7 should only be thought to be a mild hybrid system considering that the car is not able to drive completely under electric power. It is similar to the Integrated Motor Assist System of the Honda, where it adds boost when it is quickening, and when it stops it lets the engine turn off. If driving, there will be no idea that it is a hybrid except when you see a blue are in the fuel monitor to show that electricity is being regenerated. But when you come to a stop, you are going to feel the engine go silent and the tach needle go to zero. Despite the dimensions of the engine, the vehicle starts up very smoothly when you take the foot off the brake pedal.

While you are parked at a traffic light that is really lengthy, that is when the idle stop system is useful, but not quite as well in stop-and-go traffic. It is nice to have the engine shut off as you sit there stopped, however it becomes a nuisance when it shuts down for 5 seconds at a time, and this takes some getting used to. The degree of power is impressive but it does take some getting used to given that the car will lunge forward even with a light touch on the accelerator. The way the car is created, it is not a green car but yet a car that uses the hybrid system to add more power while improving fuel efficiency somewhat.

When you think of a hybrid, you think of fuel efficiency, and even though the 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 is more efficient that the standard BMW 7-series, it only gets around 20 miles per gallon. Even though that is wonderful for a luxury sport vehicle that's not all that much for a hybrid.
